If ever there were a need for renewal, this is it.  As District E crumbles to extremes, we can turn to a new generation of leadership to revive our community and neighborhoods. Michon Copelin is our best hope to start a movement that transforms our district.

The daughter of a respected educator and visionary political trailblazer, Michon is a born leader with a can-do spirit. A self-made success in business, she is a trusted expert in team building, quality assurance and crisis management. A mental health professional, she is a good listener who hears the concerns of a city of ills. Michon Copelin is a graduate of Xavier University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. She offers a clear and straightforward vision for our future and has ideas on how to achieve it.

Her plans for District E are direct:

  • Establish a Blight Eradication Task Force to identify all blight and remove it once and for all

  • Empower code enforcement to ensure properties are maintained starting with city properties

  • Rebuild the New Orleans Police Department and institute community policing initiatives

  • Concentrate police command centers to speed response time

  • Fortify levees and flood protection

  • Repair and upgrade roads, bridges and pathways

  • Develop initiatives to increase the value of property and improve quality of life

As Councilwoman, Michon will work each day to unravel years of neglect and political dysfunction that has crippled this district. With a Master of Criminal Justice degree from Southern University and years of training in community outreach from the Office of District Attorney, Michon has a keen understanding of how to make us safe again. That alone is a compelling reason to send her to the council.  With our support, Michon has the credentials and will to be one of the most influential voices in our history. Let’s empower our community through a new generation of leadership.

Michon Copelin for Council.
